Sapphire Rise’s AERO Aviation Club at FME

National Aviation Day is Wednesday, August 19th, and FME celebrated a little early by hosting Sapphire Rise’s AERO Aviation Club on August 12th! 

Sapphire Rise, the event creator, is a local non-profit dedicated to igniting curiosity and confidence in every child through hands-on STEM labs, aviation experiences, and workforce readiness initiatives. This was the first event of its kind ever held at FME, with 18 eighth through twelfth graders joining in on the fun!

Participating families enjoyed pizza and snacks while also flying drones, experiencing pilot simulations, and flying in planes with pilots.

They also heard talks from people in the aviation industry, including local police officers who demonstrated some common uses of their high-tech, heat sensing drone. 

The event was a huge success!
